“Jonathan was fulfilling a life’s ambition by training to become a ski instructor on an 11 week course in Banff, Canada. He was having a fantastic time, but during the fourth week he became ill with meningitis and was rushed to hospital. A rare complication with the meningitis resulted in him being paralysed from the neck downwards. He was flown back to the UK by air ambulance and is now in the intensive care unit at Gloucester Hospital. He is on a life support system and but has recently  regained a little function which enables him to mouthe words so that people can read his lips. He is able to charm the nurses with his smile.”
