Please let Jonathan Brough know that the club is thinking of him

Message from Jonthan’s father

Jonathan was fulfilling a life’s ambition by training to become a ski instructor on an 11 week course in Banff, Canada. He was having a fantastic time, but during the fourth week he became ill with meningitis and was rushed to hospital. A rare complication with the meningitis resulted in him being paralysed from the neck downwards. He was flown back to the UK by air ambulance and is now in the intensive care unit at Gloucester Hospital. He is on a life support system and but has recently  regained a little function which enables him to mouthe words so that people can read his lips. He is able to charm the nurses with his smile.”

We thought it would be nice to gather together any thoughts or good wishes to pass on to Jonathan from across the club. If you would like to add some comments, please register and type your comments against this post.

    Hi Jonathan,

My mum said she saw you today…and that Rowan and Lizzie were visiting too.

Really sad to hear whats happened. Im thinking of you, and hope its not too bad in gloucester hospital.

Im here in Lofer at the mo….had an awful race today..raining with the biggest ruts ever…was my toughest race so far…i was the only GBR to finish. but the ruts were so far from the gates it was hard to get anything smooth. Bode was meant to race..with bib60! but he was a DNS.

    All the best, Sam

Hi Jonathan, So sorry to hear your news, I know you were having an amazing time out here after speaking to you briefly in Sunshine. I did the CSCF level 1 course this week which i know you were planning to do and you would definately have enjoyed it. The guys on the non-stop course had heard about your illness and also send their regards. The season is still going good out here but its time we had more snow, not had a powder day for well over a week!!!

    Keep smiling, best wishes

    Hi Jonathan,
I’d just like to let you know that Emily ,Harvey , Shauna and I are thinking about you and look forward your speedy recovery and return to skiing. Glos ski club is crazy at the mo! On Sunday 10th I had 30 skiers to try and organise (ages from 6 to 18yrs) as you can imagine it was absolute CHAOS!!!! Hedley had all of 7 skiers to entertain (man he had his hands full) I think maybe there’s an imbalance somewhere but I just can’t put my finger on it. Anyway what I’m trying to say is that we need your instructing skills a.s.a.p so get well as soon as you can.
best wishes Emily, Harvey, Shauna and Austin.

    Hi Jonathan,
Just thought I would take advantage of Glos Ski Club’s great Blog to give you another message from the WCSC members (…but don’t tell them we’re hijacking their blog!). We started our 2007 season pole training sessions this week and of course we thought of you and wished you were training with us. Here’s wishing you a full recovery, Tony

  15. Derek Jackson says:

We will pop in to see you again soon.

    Keep smiling

    Hi Jonathan,
Im out in PSV…just for the last few days of the season…coming home this week so will come and see you when Im back. Its very sunny and slushy here, but at least there’s snow.. but they cancelled the super G which was a shame as the slope is good here. mum said nick fellows had sent you some DVDs. greg samuels from the dev team is on it..but not me…I was better in training but wasnt on the day. BUT you can hear my name being read out on the tannoy when they filming dougie crawford! fame at last! see you soon, Sam.

Jonathan kid you are one of the nicest lads that i know, and i think alot of you kid!soo you have got to make a rapid recovery, as the county want you back and running for them for a start. however i will tell you one thing, i rocked up to the first summer race league of the season this weekend, and i felt rather tired and hungover hehe, but when in that start gate at the morning practice i thought of someone and that was you!!you inspired me to want to kick sum ass, so for you alone i managed to get fired up and win overall, which meant that i beat Henry haha!i dont think that he was best pleased. m8 that win is dedicated for you to get better so dont let me down ok. get well soon m8 as there is a pint waiting 4 you at the bar;)
